Project: Renovation
School: Our Lady & St George’s
The Brief
One of our school clients needed some substantial renovation works completed in the Easter break so that they would be able to implement a new floorplan at the school. This meant converting the headteacher’s room, fitting out a new kitchenette and staffroom which included a breakout room. It also consisted of converting an old staff room into a headteacher’s office, converting a storage room into a medical room and adding in new double doors to turn a storage room into a storage room and music room. These were significant changes which would allow the school a greater flexibility to deliver the best possible outcomes for both teachers and pupils. The timeframe was extremely tight as there were already planned significant works throughout the duration of summer and so the school wanted the project completed in Easter. This would, of course, also lead to an extra term of benefit from the new layout.
- Substantial renovation works required
- Tight timeframe
Our Approach
Renovation works this extensive and detailed required a very tight specification so the supplier and school both had complete agreement over the outcomes of the work. Projects with multiple outcomes regularly go over budget and run over time because of the need to coordinate resources so effectively. Our team made sure that the suppliers we approached had access to the right team and materials so the job could be completed on schedule. The setup of the project and timelines were of vital importance and we worked closely with the school and supplier to make sure everything was in place so that the team could hit the ground running from day one.
- Tight specification developed
- Appropriate suppliers approached
- Detailed project setup completed
The Outcome
The work was successfully completed on time and within budget. The school were happy with the outcome and it allowed them to enjoy an extra term of having the school set up the right way. The finishing was delivered to a commercial level and the school complimented the work ethic of the team on site who moved heaven and earth to make sure the tight timescales were achieved.
- Completed within budget and on time
- Quick finish allowed for more time in new space
- Exceptional finishing
