Project: Structural Works
School: IQRA Slough Islamic Primary School (SL2)
The Brief:
The school had been moved into a new building which contained existing balconies. Unfortunately, these balconies were not at the optimal specification, and it was decided that the school needed to rebuild them. With the balconies shut off the school needed to find a contractor who could rectify the original problem for a very specific budget.
- Balconies required rebuilding
- Funding received but costing not done
- Specification required
The Approach:
Our priority was to work with the school to generate an estimated price and specification for the entire project. With this completed, we were able to apply and receive funding for the school and then turn our attention to selecting the right contractor. Not only did they have to come in on budget but they also needed to meet the very specific health and safety requirements. Fortunately, we were able to select a company who we had worked with before on over 50 school projects and due to our strong relationship with them, were able to get a good price for the school.
- Generated costing and specification
- Applied successfully for funding
- Selected best-fit contractor
The Outcome:
With the work completed in line with the budget and to a high standard, the school were very pleased. The project was carried out over the summer holidays, so the building was fully operational in time for the new academic year.
- Completed on budget
- No disruption to the school calendar
